James Gustave Speth, Jr. of Isle of Palms discusses the importance of the environment in relation to real estate development. As a member of the South Carolina Coastal Conservation League he helps to tackle many of the issues that deal with the environment in the Lowcountry.

Although not against development, he states that “the last thing South Carolina needs is environmental destruction.” The South Carolina Lowcountry, Speth believes, is in danger of losing its charm. He feels that the Bush Administration ought to do more to work with the development of places like the South Carolina Lowcountry to help preserve the integrity of her natural resources, which makes South Carolina such a desirable place to live.
