Audubon South Carolina volunteers and Daniel Island residents will clean the along the Wando River.
Last year approximately 800 pounds of trash was collected along the Wando River’s edge.

Registration is open for the 15th annual Isle of Palms Connector Run and Walk for the Child set for Oct. 6.
The race begins at the Isle of Palms Connector on the Isle of Palms. Runners and walkers will cross the connector toward Mount Pleasant, then return to the Isle of Palms, with the race finishing on J.C. Long Boulevard at the front beach area.
Fees for the 10K and 5K runs are $20 if received by Sept. 28 and $25 thereafter. The 5K walk fee is $15 if received by Sept. 20 and $20 thereafter.
Packet pickup will be 3-6 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Isle of Palms Recreation Center and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Town Hall Gym in Mount Pleasant, as well as the morning of the race.

Orientation slated for autism walk
An orientation program for people to learn about the Walk for Autism Charleston and how to qualify for a scholarship is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Pediatric Rehabilitation Center, 811 St. Andrews Blvd.
The walk is hosted by the nonprofit Kids Care Connections, which offers financial assistance to children with autism.
